Winter storms freeze the northeastern United States

Parts of the northeast of the United States are in the grip of record-breaking winter storms.

Some
places in Massachusetts look like frozen ghost towns with normal life
at a virtual standstill. Snowfall in Boston is at its highest since
records began.

At temperatures of minus eight degrees celcius
the wind chill factor took it down to minus 18 and weather experts say
it could go as low as minus 23.

One woman was found frozen to death near her home in New Jersey.
