Pro-independent protesters are demonstrating on Catalonia's National Day, ahead of a secession referendum in just three weeks. The Catalan government announced the referendum on September 6, but the Spanish high court banned it. Huge rallies are now expected throughout the day, with the referendum itself taking place at the start of next month.
